Rehasher - Off Key Melodies
Rehasher is a perfect name for this band which is of course why they picked it. These guys are on a crusade to bring back that fast, melodic punk sound prevelant in the early 90's. Given that task, fans of that bygone era will defiintiely get a sense of the familiar on this disc: blazing speed, harmonized chords, start/stop riffing, and big melodic breakdowns but, tongue in cheek aside, Rehasher isn't just a simple rip off of that sound. In fact, in many respects it exceeds even the best that period had to offer.

Given the pedigree of these seasoned musicians and the mission at hand - to make fast, likable melodic punk - it's no surprise this album rocks incredibly hard from start to finish (even the Bowie cover!). While there's a couple obvious nods to bands like Propaghandi and NOFX sprinkled throughout, the bulk of this stuff sounds fresh and tasty. It also helps that they stay on target, not falling into the joke/ska/political rant song rat hole that plagues both of the previously mentioned bands albums. Just good clean fun delivered at highway speeds for the entire ride.

So for fans of that early Fat/Epitaph sound this record will be like a bolt from heaven. My only complaint is that I like this band a ton more than any of their permanent bands. It's a shame this has to be a side band but hopefully they keep with it over the years like Pinhead Gunpowder.
